  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons sugar (for rolling)
  • 3 teaspoons ground cinnamon (for rolling)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add to the creamed mixture.
  5. Shape the dough into balls, roll in the cinnamon-sugar mixture, and place on baking sheets.
  6. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until edges are lightly golden.
  7. Allow to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks.

Notes
