  • 3 pounds beef roast
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup red wine
  • 2 sprigs fresh thyme
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (160°C).
  2. Season the beef roast with salt and pepper.
  3. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Sear the beef on all sides until browned.
  4. Remove the beef from the skillet and add onion and garlic. Sauté until softened.
  5. Pour in the beef broth and red wine, scraping the skillet to deglaze.
  6. Add the thyme and Worcestershire sauce, then return the beef to the skillet.
  7. Cover the skillet and transfer it to the preheated oven. Braise for approximately 3 hours or until the beef is tender.
  8. Let rest before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, you can add carrots and celery to the braise.
