Gingerbread Cake Cinnamon Molasses Frosting

  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup molasses
  • 1 cup hot water

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix together flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and salt.
  3. Cream together the butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  5. Stir in the molasses and hot water, mixing until smooth.
  6. Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, and mix until just combined.
  7. Pour the batter into a greased cake pan and bake for 30-35 minutes.
  8. Let the cake cool before frosting.
  9. For the frosting, mix together softened butter, powdered sugar, cinnamon, and molasses until smooth.
  10. Spread the frosting generously over the cooled cake.
