Creamy German Goulash

A rich and creamy dish that brings a taste of Germany to your table.

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds beef chuck, cut into cubes
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons paprika
  • 1 teaspoon caraway seeds
  • 1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes
  • 4 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the beef cubes and brown on all sides.
  2. Stir in onions and garlic, cooking until onions are translucent.
  3. Add paprika and caraway seeds, stirring well to coat the meat.
  4. Pour in the diced tomatoes and beef broth. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 1.5 to 2 hours.
  5. Once the meat is tender, stir in the sour cream and season with salt and pepper. Cook for an additional 5 minutes.
  6. Serve hot with noodles or bread.

Notes

  • For a spicier version, add a pinch of cayenne pepper.
