Char Siu Chicken

A succulent and flavorful recipe for Char Siu Chicken, perfect for summer BBQs.

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds chicken thighs
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Chinese five-spice powder
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 inch ginger, grated
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix together soy sauce, honey, hoisin sauce, five-spice powder, garlic, ginger, rice vinegar, and sesame oil to create the marinade.
  2. Add chicken thighs to the marinade, making sure they are well coated, and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.
  3. Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
  4. Remove chicken from marinade and discard any leftover marinade.
  5. Grill the chicken for about 7-8 minutes per side or until fully cooked through and there are nice grill marks.
  6. Let the chicken rest for 5 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, consider marinating the chicken overnight.
  • Serve with steamed rice and vegetables for a complete meal.
